BZN Cars are the fourth car in FN & VN type sets, and also feature in VZ sets, featuring full wheelchair accessibility.

First into service with V/Line from March 1995, BZN275 having the honours, BZN carriages are refurbished BZ, BZS & BCZ carriages.

Seating 72 Economy passengers, seats are in a 3x2 set up facing each other. As its Economy seating, they do not rotate or recline.  Carpets are dark red and the curtains are in a brownish tint.

Each BZN type carriage contains above seat luggage racks. There is also luggage space, a drinking fountain, and two rubbish bins, at the West End of the carriage.

A wheelchair accessible toilet is located within the saloon at the East End.

Access to BZN carriages from platforms is by manual opening doors at the both ends of the carriage. The East End doors are wider than the West End doors & all other 'N' type carriage doors (excluding the ACN East End door) enabling up to two wheelchairs to be placed in the carriage.

Note regarding access to BZN Carriages:
BZN275, part of set 'FN19', has been fitted with power closing and locking doors, controlled in a similar fashion to that of the H car sliding doors, at both the East and West End passenger entry doors. These doors are presently under trial.

Click Here for more information on the power closing and locking doors fitted to FN19 - which will eventually be fitted to all 'N' sets if the trial is successful.

Air Conditioning and heating is fitted in all BZN carriages. Manual Push Open doors enable access to the saloon, and manually opening doors enable access between carriages.

BZN carriages run off Head End Power from a N class locomotive or a powervan.
