FLH Sets
consist of three long 'H' cars-
a BCH,
BH,
& BTH & a
short BIH car.
Containing 316 economy seats,
FLH sets can be seen behind
A & N classes on peak
inter-urban services to Bacchus
Marsh, Geelong, Kyneton and
Seymour.
Power
to the sets is supplied in
the form of Head End Power
(HEP) from a N class locomotive
or a powervan, if an A class
is hauling it.
Each FLH set contains
three toilets, one each in the
BCH,
BH &
BTH
cars. Seats are fixed, and carpets are red,
as is the tactile surface within the
doorways. The curtains are brown with orange
streaks, and each carriage contains rubbish
bins and a drinking fountain.
Access to the
carriages is by sliding side doors, four per
carriage, (excluding the
BCH which has a
conductors van- it only has two). All of the
sliding doors are controlled by a key switch
by the conductor of the train. This switch
unlocks the doors for them to be manually
opened at stations, and also closes and
locks doors as the train departs. Doors at
the end of each carriage enable access to
the other carriages.
Wheelchair
accessibility is available in each carriage,
as all of the passenger access side doors
are wide enough to take them.
Additional 'H' type
sets can be added to them to increase
seating capacity - this is frequent during
the AFL season for weekend Geelong services.
There are two FLH
sets, with both of them being in the current
V/Line Red/White/Blue livery with the
present V/Line logo.
Interesting to Note:
In the mid 1980's, LH33 (FLH33 before the
fourth car was added), was fitted with
160kph Socimi bogies for high speed test
running with a re-geared A85. When the BIH
carriage was added, the Socimi bogies were
replaced with the normal H car bogies. |
