After realising the vast
majority of V/Line's
carriages are in sets, I
spent days at a time during
the school holidays with my
father at Spencer Street
(not
something too many Grade
4 or 5 students would do!), compiling lists of
carriage numbers and set
numbers, and familiarising
myself with the numerous
carriage types.
In
2000 at the age of 10, I
developed my first website-
"Matt's Cars Page", which
included consist and basic
information regarding all of
the sets of carriages V/Line
owns and operates, and the
spare/additional cars, vans,
maintenance and other
general related things.
This
website was on the internet,
and frequently updated until
mid 2003, when my then ISP's
server crashed. Since then,
I've been compiling lots
more information for the new
site- which is what you are
seeing today- V/LineCars.com
Data and photos are compiled
on an ongoing basis, and the
site is updated when news is
in and changes have been
made to consists, liveries
and other variable pieces of
information.
My
specialty is really N, H, Z
& S type steel carriages. I
have a decent knowledge of
the majority of aspects
regarding these cars, and
will endeavour to be of
assistance to anyone who
asks questions regarding
these carriages. Wooden
carriages aren’t my forte –
and just remember - I don't
know everything, I'm just
17, and there’s only so much
research one can do!
As a railway enthusiast as a
whole, I am not just
interested in carriages- I
have been photographing
trains since 1999, have two
photos websites (http://vicrailpics.fotopic.net
for the 1999-2004 photos,
and
http://vicrailpicz.fotopic.net
for the present 2005/06
photos), and have many
thousands of photos of many
different types of trains at
different locations around
Australia- mainly Victoria
though.
Along with building and
maintaining this website, my
large knowledge of V/Line
carriages and their
operations has
helped gain me a position at
Chris Gordon's Vicsig
website of maintaining the
V/Line Carriage Fleet
information section.
If anyone can be of any
assistance whatsoever with
providing further
information or photos for
use on this site, it would
be most appreciated if you
could
contact me
Have fun browsing – and
remember to come back!
Kind Regards,
Matt Julian
