FSH28 at Spencer Street
Friday 7th April 2006

On Monday 3rd April 2006, SH sets SH28 and SH34 were withdrawn from service and transferred to Newport Workshops behind N455+P18 for set makeup alterations to occur. This was due to patronage increases on interurban peak services.

Between Monday and Wednesday, the two sets were split, with BIH194 being removed from the middle of SH34, and being placed in between carriages BH148 and BCH128 of SH28. BCH128's 'SH28' decals were then replaced with new 'FSH28' decals.

FSH28 was sent back to Spencer Street behind N459 during the early afternoon of Wednesday 5th April.

The remaining two carriages of SH34, BCH134 & BTH174, are presently stored at Newport Workshops, pending a decision on their futures.

For the record:-

  • The last service SH28 ran in its three car form was 8006 - the 0710 up Sunbury, on Monday 3rd April as part of a Push/Pull set with SH31, hauled by P13 (leading) and P12 (trailing)

  • The last service SH34 ran as a set was 8114 - the 0708 up Bacchus Marsh, on Monday 3rd April as part of a Push/Pull set with SH30, hauled by P15 (leading) and P17 (trailing)

  • The first service FSH28 operated on was 8205 - the 0747 down South Geelong, on Thursday 6th April.
