As
of 1200 Sunday 30th July, the newly installed signalling system
between Pakenham and Traralgon was commissioned, with the Gippsland
line between Pakenham and Traralgon being operated under the rules
of the Automatic and Track Control System.
V/Line locomotives and
DMU's have been operating signal sighting and commissioning, radio
testing, and driver training runs between Pakenham and Traralgon
since Thursday 13th July.
In a short period of time,
more test trains will be running along the line, as the return date
for services, September 3, approaches.
The following test trains
have ran in the past three weeks:-

N456 ran signal
sighting tests between Warragul and Moe on Thursday 13th and
Friday 14th July

VL32 ran empty from
Spencer Street to Warragul on Monday 17th July, conducting
signal sighting and track circuit tests between Pakenham and
Traralgon for three days, before being changed over with VL18,
which continued the testing.

N475 ran light
engine from Spencer Street to Pakenham on Sunday 23rd July, and
conducted Train Radio testing between Pakenham and Traralgon,
stabling at Traralgon.

N475 conducted
further Train Radio testing between Traralgon and Pakenham on
Tuesday 25th July.

N475 conducted
Signal and Axle Counter testing between Traralgon and Morwell on
Wednesday 26th July.

Driver training runs
between Traralgon and Bairnsdale were conducted with N475
between Friday 28th July and Monday 31st July.

A light N class
locomotive ran signal sighting tests between Traralgon and
Pakenham on both Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th July, with the loco
running to and from Spencer Street on both days.

Return VLocity
signal test trips were operated on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th
July, leaving Melbourne around 1700, and arriving into Traralgon
at 2359, before returning back at 0030. VL14 operated the
Saturday test, whilst VL21 ran on the Sunday.
Three test and transfer
trains operated on the line on Thursday 3rd August, utilising N
Class locos, a VLocity and a Sprinter:-

On the morning of
Thursday 3rd August, N475 ran light engine from Traralgon to
Spencer Street, N469 ran on the morning empty cars from Spencer
Street to Pakenham, then light engine onto Traralgon (changeover
of loco at Traralgon)

On Thursday 3rd
August, VL31 ran from Spencer Street to Traralgon for signal
testing and commissioning between Pakenham and Traralgon. It
also ran signal testing and commissioning trains between Friday
4th August and Sunday 6th August.

On Thursday 3rd
August, 7020 ran from Spencer Street to Traralgon and conducted
testing for Pacific National as required between Warragul and
Traralgon. The sprinter stabled at Warragul at 1700 on 3/8, and
resumed PN testing at 0745 the following day. Upon completing
testing, 7020 departed Warragul for Spencer Street at 1700.

On the morning of
Friday 4th August, N469 conducted a return infrastructure
inspection run from Traralgon to Pakenham and return.

VL31 left Traralgon for Spencer
Street on the afternoon of Monday 7th August after completing
signal testing and commissioning runs between Traralgon and
Pakenham.
Details of further test trains on the line will be placed on
V/LineCars.com on a weekly basis.
