Recent ACZ to BCZ carriage conversions

As previously reported, ACZ259 & ACZ262 were transferred to Newport Workshops in May for their scheduled overhauls to be undertaken.

During their overhauls, both carriages were recoded to BCZ cars BCZ259 & BCZ262 respectively, with references to First Class internally and externally being replaced with Economy signage.

No other noticeable changes were made to either of the carriages, and despite now being classed as Economy, they have kept the original ACZ type seating, as per the previous ACZ to BCZ conversions made in the 1990’s.

BCZ262 was outshopped and sent to Spencer Street Pass. Yard on Thursday 20th July 2006. It’s first service after its return was with N3 behind P18 on the 1535 down Bacchus Marsh, train 8117.

As of this article going online (Friday 28/7), BCZ259 is still at Newport Workshops.
