V/Line have announced that
train services are expected to return between Bairnsdale and
Melbourne on Friday 25th August 2006, after the completion of signal
testing and driver training following major Regional Fast Rail (RFR)
upgrade works.
Coaches have been operating
train services along the line for nearly four months whilst the last
round of RFR works were carried out -

Although train services are
returning, they will run to the previous Eastern Region timetable,
effective 27th February 2005. (Click

The new updated timetable
is set to come into place in October 2006.
V/LineCars.com will have a
News Article regarding the testing of trains on the line as a follow
up to the first article which has
details of each days testing along the line. A news article will
also appear regarding the
transfer trains running on Thursday night to get rollingstock down
to Traralgon and Bairnsdale to run the Friday morning up services.
At this time, it is unknown when the VLocity Launch for the line
will be, nor when VLocities will commence service on the line.
