Launch of 160km/h revenue V/Line services

V/Line commenced operating selected VLocity operated services at speeds of up to 160km/h on Sunday 27th August 2006.

This is the second stage of the new V/Line timetable implementation, and comes a week before the new V/Line timetable will come into effect on the Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Seymour lines on Sunday September 3.

V/Line's first 160km/h revenue passenger service was 8014, the 0727 Bendigo to Southern Cross service, ran by VL07+VL32. This train arrived on time into Southern Cross at 0913; a 1 hour 46min trip from Bendigo.

These 'Selected Go Fast' 160km/h services will only be operating on the Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong lines, as the old timetable still applies to the Gippsland Line, and the Seymour Line is not part of the Regional Fast Rail upgrade.
