Each SH set contains two toilets. Seats are fixed,
and carpets are red, as is the tactile surface within the doorways.
The curtains are brown with orange streaks, and each carriage
contains rubbish bins and a drinking fountain.
Access to the carriages is by
sliding side doors, four per carriage, (excluding the
BCH which has a
conductors van- it only has two). All of the sliding doors are controlled by a key
switch by the conductor of the train. This switch unlocks the doors
for them to be manually opened at stations, and also closes and
locks doors as the train departs. Doors at the end of each carriage
enable access to the other carriages.
Wheelchair accessibility is
available in each carriage, as all of the passenger access side
doors are wide enough to take them.
Additional 'H' type
sets can be added to them to increase seating capacity - however, it
is very rare that a SH set is alone.
Set Alterations:-
Before April 2006, there was previously four SH sets in service,
however, due to increased patronage on peak interurban services,
SH34 (BCH134-BIH194-BTH174) was split, with BIH194 being placed into
SH28 to create a new FSH set, FSH28.
BCH134 and BTH174 were added to FLH32 in late April 2006 to form new
H type set VLH32.
There are two SH sets, with both of them being in the current V/Line Red/White/Blue
livery- with the present V/Line logo. These sets operated
exclusively with FSH type sets on Push/Pull services with P class
locomotives.
