V/Line's new VLocity 160 units have been in passenger revenue operation since Thursday, December 22nd, 2005, operating the majority of services to and from Ballarat.

Limited to a 130kph maximum speed until new TPWS equipment has been fitted to each VLocity unit, and once the new V/Line timetable has been released (September 2006), VLocities are set to take minutes off the present timetabled services, giving Regional Victorians a new, modern, comfortable and safe rail service.

At present, VLocity units run passenger revenue services on the Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Seymour lines. The below table shows in service dates for each V/Line interurban line.
